Que Pasa Guys,
One thing I have noticed whilst doing revision recently is my insatiable appetite for food every half hour or so, which gave me the idea why not write a blog telling you guys about where to eat in Treforest and the surrounding area relatively cheaply! Because there really are so many places to eat around here not just at the Union and the other food catering facilities on campus.
First thing is first – the fast food! ‘McDonalds’ is just out at the Treforest industrial Estate, everyones favourite. Here in Treforest there is also a ‘KFC’ which, conveniently, offers student discount with our student ID cards (a nice 10%) and a ‘Subway’ with their very helpful £3 meal deal! ‘Yummy Kitchen’ is the local Chinese/fish and chip takeaway and is very reasonably priced. They also do a special lunch deal for £2.60 which is good for on-the-go.
The pubs in Treforest offer some top notch meals – ‘The Rickard Arms’ do a decent sized full breakfast for an impressive £3.95 and ‘The Pick and Shovel’ is famous for its very generous “Hangover Cure Breakfast” consisting of 3 rashers of bacon, 3 sausages, 2 eggs, beans, mushrooms, chips, tomatoes, hash browns and a wedge of toast all for £5.95 – been a lifesaver numerous times throughout my university life, goes down well with a good pint of water too ;). The Railway Inn provides a roast dinner for a fiver – a nice social gathering that one. ‘The Gecko Bar’ acts as a nice little “tapas” bar with freshly made dishes, offering a 2 for 1 deal on Thursdays.
‘The Upper Boat Inn’ just off of the A470 before the university, as if you were heading to the Industrial Estate is part of the “Crown Carveries” where you can pile your plate up for just over £4 – my personal favourite.
Take a step towards Pontypridd and you come across the All-You-Can-Eat Chinese, which I went to for my birthday last year and it was very nice, a good selection too, all for £11. Definitely worth a visit if you are a lover of Chinese. There is also a ‘Wetherspoons’ in Pontypridd so you can get the burger and a drink for £5.
So if you fancy a change of cooking in the flat and have a little bit to spend these are just a few places to indulge in. On that note, I’m off to grab some food for myself!
Until next time, Ciao for now!
